HEIDI KEINONEN

Phd, Title of Docent

I am a media industry expert and non-fiction author with over 20 years of experience in research and education. Throughout my career, I have held academic positions primarily at the University of Turku and Tampere University, and most recently at the University of Vienna in Austria. My research interests include television and film production, media history, the structures of the media industry, public broadcasting, and the genres of film, radio, and television.

The media offers an endless range of research topics, providing diverse perspectives on culture and society. Within the audiovisual field, I am inspired by storytelling through drama and the transformation of creative work into sustainable business. I am particularly interested in transnational and intermedial intersections and crossings. In recent years, my work has examined, among other things, the development of Finnish serial drama in radio and television, the historical intersections of film and television, and the challenges of European animation production.
